When you receive an LTIP award letter that includes a RSU grant, it looks straightforward on the page: a number of units, a dollar amount, and a date. That single line item is really several separate events strung together over multiple years, each working differently. Reading it as one static number hides more than it reveals once you’re several years into holding the grant.
